Aqua Di Lara at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013
The Aqua Di Lara collection shown at MBFWS was divided into two stories. The first, White Label, was dreamy and feminine. The later, Black Label, was more functional with bold graphics and edgy silhouettes. The runway was filled with bright colors like fire engine red, intense coral, vivid teal and canary yellow. Necklines were emphasized with jeweled collars, plunging slits and keyhole shapes. These same keyhole designs were placed at midriffs for the ultimate bikini hybrid. Other tops had molded bustier cups or one-strap details. Others had wrap-around straps, back cutouts or lace-up side closures. Patterns varied between abstract tribal and stripe motifs, muted geometric prints or interesting patchwork. In terms of the White Label, runway looks included flowing kaftans, mother-of-pearl fabrics and sparkling accents. Conversely, Black Label showcased studded outlines, metal embellishments and metallic fabrics. The combination of the two stories made for a stimulating show, delivering up-to-the minute swimwear trends. Moreover, the double selection allows shoppers the choice of being naughty or nice.
