Dolores Cortes at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013
Dolores Cortes has been designing and producing cutting edge swimwear collections for more than 50 years. They have solidified themselves as a brand that is determined, innovative and continuously fashion forward. Their showcase at MBFWS displayed exactly this by using vivid colors and interesting suit shapes. Bustier tops were popular, designed in bubblegum pink and turquoise; drenched in mixed patterns of leopard, stripes and Ikat prints. Statement neckpieces were used in conjunction with trapeze flowing maxi-dresses and multi-strapped tieback one-piece suits. Crocheted accents were huge for the runway show, observed in both suit details or in delicate cover-ups. Models adorned chic bandeau tops with ruffle trim, side strapping bikinis, and unique cage-like tops with fabric bands completely encircling the torso. Other prints included soft watercolor brushstrokes in soothing pastel hues; the same colors that decorated each model’s beehive streaked hair. Accessories were equally appealing, complimenting swimwear to perfection. Embellished collars, fringe earrings, bright bangles and metal cuffs enhanced the exotic Spanish beachwear, making it the ultimate collection to covet.
